Therapeutic Massage &
Integrative Bodywork Sessions
An Integrative Approach to Massage:
At Emerge, every massage therapy session provides an integration of various modalities that are customized for each individual client. We recognize that one technique isn’t necessarily the best approach for everyone and work closely with each client to customize a treatment to meet their unique goals.
In addition, we’ve found that injury recovery and pain relief is best achieved with a multifaceted approach. Comprehensive treatment provides longer lasting results.
Sessions involve the integration of therapeutic techniques from a variety of different bodywork modalities, including, but not limited to: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, Myofascial Release, Craniosacral Therapy, Thai Massage, Polarity Therapy and Ashiatsu.

INTEGRATIVE MASSAGE
Whether you're looking simply to relax and unwind or specifically loosen up your stiff spots, this session is for you. Working one-on-one with a therapist, the treatment is customized to meet your unique needs & goals. Session may be full body or focus on a few target areas. You will leave feeling relaxed & rejuvenated.
PAIN RELIEF & INJURY RECOVERY
Pain relief & injury recovery sessions target the cause of discomfort by accessing the body’s connective tissues, improving structural alignment, enhancing flexibility, relieving pain, and increasing range of motion. Therapists will incorporate a variety of techniques from sports massage to myofascial release to help alleviate pain & restore optimal mobility!
THAI MASSAGE & STRETCHING
This integrated approach stimulates the body’s natural healing ability by unblocking the flow of energy providing a complete release of the body, mind & soul. Thai massage is suitable for all ages and abilities and can complement any level of exercise, flexibility, and/or activity.
MINDBODY BALANCING
Practitioner will fuse various energetic modalities (polarity, reiki, etc.) to facilitate a sense of mind*body integration & healing for the client. Integrative energy sessions are an excellent way to restore balance, boost immunity, relieve pain, promote relaxation, release blocked emotions & amplify personal energy in a gentle and non-invasive way.
PRE-NATAL MASSAGE
Prenatal sessions share many of the goals of regular massage: to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation, increase mobility, and just make you feel good. Massage relieves many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches and edema (or swelling).
MYOFACIAL RELEASE
MFR is a safe hands-on therapy that administers sustained pressure into soft tissue (fascial) restrictions to affect a release. Along with compression, stretching, and facilitated movement, pressures may range from very light energetic holds to deep tissue manipulation. By eliminating pain, increasing range of motion, and re-balancing the entire body, MFR offers lasting relief.

Massage Therapy FAQs:
How often should I receive treatment?
Session frequency depends on your goals.
For those who use massage as preventative care or to manage daily stress, one to two sessions per month is common and recommended.
Individuals looking to target a particular area of chronic pain may find more frequent treatment necessary. Once per week (often in conjunction with acupuncture and terhaputic exercise) may be recommended in those cases.
Finally, individuals with acute injuries that are cleared for treatment by their doctor may benefit from more frequent sessions (usually of a shorter duration) multiple times per week to prevent the build-up of scar tissue and adhesions.
How will I know which style of massage is best?
As stated above, there is no one approach or style that is right for everyone. Beyond that, sometimes a specific technique may be indicated for one client on a particualr day, and not for the same individual in the next seesion.
Becasue of this, we do not schedule sessions based on a particular massage modality, but rather will customize which techniques are used after a thorough intake with the client. There we can assess what techniqeus will best meet their needs and goals, and then will deliver a session accordigly.
Often sessions combine a variety of modalities to target areas of pain, discomfort, or stress in. themost comprehensive way possible.
What are the session rates?
All sessions at Emerge Integrative Wellness are priced by duration, not modality. The only "session upgrades" are when extra products or materials are incorporated into a session: ie. aromatherapy, Kinesio Tape, raindrop technique.
Each therapist has a different rate. Please inquire at the front desk for a price breakdown.
A credit card on file is required to book all massage therapy appointments. 24HR advanced notice is required for cancellation, otherwise a fee will be incurred based on the session type and duration.
How long is a session?
We usually recommend 60 minutes for an initial treatment to allow the therapist time for a full assessment and to address your chief complaint.
Options for follow up sessions are 30 or 60 minutes. Back to back apointments are options based on therapist avaiaiblity for 90 or 120 minutes.
Will my insurance cover the session cost?
Currently, Licensed Massage Therapists in NY can accept two types of insurance, No-Fault & NYSHIP.
- NO-FAULT: In the case of an injury due to a car accident, no-fault will generally cover massage therapy sessions as part of rehabilitation. A prescription from a referring doctor is helpful but not required pre-treatment. Insurance will usually cover 1-3, 45-minute sessions per week
- NYSHIP (The Empire Plan or United Healthcare): This insurance is usually held by teachers, government/state workers & law enforcement. Sessions are usually 1HR and the amount of sessions allocated per month will depend on your plan. Depending on your deductible, you may have to pay out of pocket until that amount is met for your insurance to pick up.
Can I schedule craniosacral or myofascial release?
While Craniosacral Therapy and Myofascial Release are powerful bodywork modalities, pracititoners rarely schedule a session with the intent of using only one technique.
If you have a headache, neck tension, or any muscular pain due to trauma or repetitivve strain, facial work can be incorporated into a injury focused session with any massage therapist.
For special cases of head-trauma, post concussion, or neurological disorders, request either acupuncuter or a private session with Vanessa to recieve specific craniosacral work.
