Did you know that you have seven colored wheels within your body, that rotate and affect your personality?

Okay, maybe they skipped that in Anatomy 101, but there are seven energetic centers (actually there are far more, but we’ll stick to the basics) within your body. They align with your spine, starting at the base and run up through the crown of your head, and correlate to all major physiological, emotional and spiritual states of being. While you would not be able to see your chakras in an X-Ray, they are located in areas of your body that correspond to major organ and nerve centers.

The word chakra is Sanskrit for “wheel” or “disk” and to keep the energy (Prana, life force or Chi) moving properly throughout all seven, one must keep them healthy and balanced. When your chakras are balanced, you feel healthy, full of vitality and in harmony.  When your chakras are imbalanced, you are susceptible to illness, dis-ease, on-going ailments, low energy… the list goes on.  By keeping the energy flowing freely, we live a healthy, more inspired life!  Fortunately, blockages and stagnation in the chakras can be cleared, rebalanced and energized. Methods such as yoga, breathing techniques (pranayama), meditation and therapeutic grade essential oils are best for keeping your chakras healthy.

During the month of January we’ll be sharing ways to keep the 7 main chakras in balance, as well as ways to use essential oils to keep the energy moving, fostering an even deeper connection with yourself (and Higher Self).

Here’s the 7 main chakras that we’ll be looking at:

Root Chakra: Muladhara, the first chakra

Sacral Chakra: Svadhisthana, the second chakra

Solar Plexus Chakra: Manipura, the third chakra

Heart Chakra: Anahata, the forth chakra

Throat Chakra: Visuddha, the fifth chakra

Third Eye Chakra: Anja, the sixth chakra

Crown Chakra: Sahasrara, the seventh chakra
