Success in life is all about give and take.  It’s learning how to assert yourself without being overbearing… striving towards your goals, without burning out!

The third chakra, the naval or maṇipūrais located  just below the sternum, above the navel.  It is associated with our ability to be confidentially in control of our lives. It is the chakra of our ego and our personal power, where we experience balance, appropriate self-discipline, responsibility, spontaneity, and sense of playfulness.

  • Element: Fire – to ignite your inner fire and strengthen your digestive fire.
  • Color: Bright yellow, like the sun. 

When our solar plexus is out of balance, we will:

  • Feel powerless and victimized OR
  • Become excessively authoritative and try to get control over people or surroundings
  • Have difficulty taking action on your dreams due to low self-esteem
  • Get angry and “hot headed” over little things that can easily be  brushed off
  • Experience pains and anxiety

Bringing it back to balance, will allow you to:

  • Have a strong sense of your own power and how to use it in healthy ways
  • Feel more determined and self-confident in whatever you do
  • Become more decisive, self-controlled, and affirmed about your intention and actions
  • Admire others with power and influence rather than succumbing to jealousy and competition
  • Be responsible and reliable, yet playful, with a good sense of humor

Simple ways to FEEL EMPOWERED and balance your solar plexus:

  • YOGA POSE: Sun Salutations and Low Twisted Lunge⁠
  • ESSENTIAL OIL: Lemongrass.  Essential oils that help us connect to the energy of fire and our personal power lend beautifully to Solar Plexus energy. Think of oils that feel warm on the body, are spicy, invigorating and empowering.⁠
  • TRY THIS AT HOME: Standing in Tadasana at the top of your yoga mat, rub a few drops of Lemongrass essential oil between the palm of your hands and inhale deeply. If you feel guided to do so, rub a few drops on your Solar Plexus as well. When you feel complete with the aromatherapy, do 7 rounds of Classical Suns, moving your body guided by your breath. Without worry for if you are doing it correctly, simply allow your body to move and trust that you moving exactly as you should.
